Welcome Information

New to South Oak Ridge Baptist Church?

We invite you to visit and make yourself at home here at South Oak Ridge.

When you do, you’ll discover for yourself that we are a family-friendly church striving to become like the church, as described in the Bible. We desire to be a church with relevant teaching, authentic friendships, heart-felt worship music that expresses our love for God, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where God changes lives. More than a church, we are a church family.

We look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime ...

You might be wondering…

What time is the service and what is it like?

Our Sunday worship service starts at 10:30 a.m. The atmosphere is relaxed, the worship songs glorify our Lord, and the Bible-based messages are meaningful and relevant to daily life.  You may listen to our service on this website by clicking on sermons on the home page.  And please … don’t worry - we don’t embarrass our guests by singling them out; we just welcome them, thank them for joining us and make sure they’re comfortable. We also do ask our guests to complete a guest card so we can stay in touch.

Is there a Sunday School or Bible Study time?

Yes. Each Sunday morning we have Bible Study (or Sunday School) classes for all ages that meet at 9:30 a.m. before our Sunday worship service. Adults can select from several different classes while preschool, children and youth all have age appropriate classes.

What should I wear?

When you attend South Oak Ridge, you’ll see people dressed in a wide range of attire, from jeans to dress clothes. Please come dressed as you feel most comfortable. You’ll fit right in.

How do I get there?

We are located at 1336 Lone Hickory Road Yadkinville, NC 27055. Directions, with a map, are provided on the home page.

What about my children?

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these,” said Jesus in Matthew 19:14. We believe that children of all ages are a gift and treasure from God, and they are to be taught and raised up to know just how much they are loved.

We desire to partner with parents in laying a foundation of spiritual truth so that each child will know he is treasured and, in God's timing, become a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, and grow to know, love and serve Him.

Through our children’s ministries and activities throughout the year, children learn how the Bible fits into their lives, how to talk to God, and what it means to be a lifelong follower of Jesus. Children take the gospel to heart, building a foundation – and often, friendships – that will last a lifetime.

Programs are available for all children from preschoolers through High School age. See our Children and Youth pages found under our Ministries tab for more information.

Any of our greeters would be happy to direct you and your children to the right place.

How does South Oak Ridge help the community?

We have a variety of events and opportunities throughout the year in which our church family reaches out to our community and neighborhood. We participate and are hand's on with local ministries through Yadkin Christian Ministries, Hand's of Hope Medical Clinic, Compassion Care Family Ministries, and Impact Yadkin. We also partner with local schools to assist in feeding children and families.  Our church, especially our children and youth, have enjoyed participating in Operation Christmas Child and sending care packages to soldiers that are deployed.

In addition, we have a missions program that cooperatively reaches around the world supporting thousands of missionaries with education, resources, and, most of all, the good news of the gospel. Our church people have also been very active throughout the years on mission trips to assist with disaster relief after hurricanes and other storms. In addition, members have engaged in evangelism, discipleship and church planting in the U.S. and around the world in South Africa, China, Haiti, Canada and other countries.

What kind of church are you?

South Oak Ridge Baptist Church is an independent, autonomus, self-supporting, self-governing congregation, which cooperates for missions, evangelism and resources with the Yadkin Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Southern Baptist Convention. You may visit our Beliefs page, located on the next tab.
